How He Loves Us

I was cleaning house the other day and this song came on, I have listened to this song a million times, I have performed it a million times, but it had been a while since I have heard it and an even longer while since I watched/listened to this version. It must have been something I needed to hear because not only was I flooded with emotion but also memories. It is amazing how a song can take you back to a place in time.

The year that Kim Walker came out with this song was a big year, a life changing year…Jesus Culture was the newest and best worship band out and we wanted to learn every single one of their songs for our youth retreat in St. Augustine, FL that year. We had done pretty well and learned alot of songs but this one was tough. We practiced for hours and I still wasn’t able to reach the low notes, to this day my husband and I have to sing it as a duet because I struggle. I specifically remeber standing in the clubhouse, the smell, the ugly green carpet, and all the frustation I was experiencing because I wanted to sing it but I didn’t think I could. But when it came time for service, I sang my heart out and I sang well, but I remember that none of that matter because at that moment nothing matter except the Love of God, and it was amazing.

Listening to this song reminds me of who I was in the summer of 2008 and where life has taken me since then. It reminds me of being a kid, of walks on the beach, falling in love with my husband (we got engaged on that trip), it reminds me of watching and participating in lifes changing…my life changing, but most importantly it reminds me to be willing to let God use me, to not hold back, to not let fear of failure cause me to not even try, and most importantly to remain humble. You go through things in life that seem insignificant at the time but little do you know that those little moments He is molding and shaping you into the man or woman he wants you to be.

Little did I know I would get engaged that year to my high school sweetheart, and here we are 11 years later with a home, a little boy, and facing some of the largest trial we will ever have to face and all we have to do is remain dedicated, remain in his love and know that because of His love everything is going to work out.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:35-39 – 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,

“For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
